Update.

After a bad start to the season with bad snow conditions and not finishing my first 2 races. I finally managed to get a solid result in this weekend in Solda, Italy.

It was a Citizen Slalom race. With a start number of 105 I ended up making 49th place from 140 racers. This top 50 has given me confidence and a good platform to build on in the new year. Will defaiantly be aiming for top 30s throughout the rest of the season.

I am now back in Austria, and flying to England tomorrow for 6 days. Returning on the 27th straight back into training preparing for races, depending on the snow conditions in Germany at the start of the new year. Will Keep you updated, cheers Ben.

I know what I have to work on now over the rest of the summer. I wiil be tested again in the autum before the season starts. Here are some photos, cheers Ben.

Training Update.

The last few weeks have been good! I have been spending 4 to 5 hours a day in the gym working on my fitness. Managed to fit some nice rides in on the bike aswell, the terrain is great here! In the gym we have mainly been focusing on lighter weights building muscle slowly and basic cardio. This will change next month, the reps will come down and the weight will go up.

All in all I feel that this has been a great first month of my summer training block. My body feels good and I am ready to step it up again in June! Will keep you updated, cheers Ben.

May Update.

The last couple of weeks have been great! I have had some good training and have made some early progress all round. My Strength and Condition program has really kicked off down at Sport Med Tirol with my trainer Christoph. This year we are stepping it up to a whole new level again and he has brought in some new great, but tough training methods!

Over the past two weeks I have had 6 days ski training up on the Hintertux glacier with Wolfi. The snow conditions and weather have been awsome! I have even been having full courses set just for me alone.

I have been testing Salomon 2012 skis and boots. I had a great feeling for their eqipment and therefore have decided to Change to Salomon as my ski and boot supplier. I am looking forward to developing a long term relationship with them.

For the next two weeks I will be focusing on Gym work with Christoph. Will keep you updated, Cheers Ben

End Of Season News.

The past Month has been a bit of a mixed bag with some of the poorest snow conditions the alps for years. Many races have been cancelled and not re run, because of this we decided to focus more on training and picked races where the best snow was.

The last race of the season in fugen was one of my best of the season, making some points and having a great feeling during my runs!

Over the past week I have had some time of chilling out with friends and taking things easy, as I dont get to do this much in the winter when I am always on the road. In 2 weeks my summer program will begin down at Sport Med Tirol and summer ski training on the Hintertux Glacier.

This summer I will also be training in the ski halls again in Holland and Germany with my Coach Wolfi.

Will keep you updated on how things are going, cheers Ben

Whats Been Going on.

Over the last few weeks I have had 5 races in total. Some of them went ok and some didnt go so well, but I am on the right track. The best result of the 5 races was last week in Lachtal, Austria. Even though I lost my pole on the first run and made a mistake in the second I still managed to better my points by 40, scoring 152 FIS points.

2 weeks ago I had the honour to ski with Benni Raich the Austrian number 1 racer. He is a World Cup and Olympic Champion, on the left is a photo of me and him.Last week I was also back on the world cup slalom hill in Kitzbuhel training. I had a great couple of days there with some awsome weather and snow conditions. Over the weekend I was in Mayrhofen having 2 days of well deserved rest and 1 days free skiing on the Penken.

This week I am am back training Giant Slalom in Kirchberg. Will be uploading some new videos and photos within the next couple of days so watch out for them, Cheers Ben

Weekly Update/Bad Conditions.

I ended up not racing last Sunday due to bad conditions on the race hill, Monday was back to normal training though.

Over the last week we were training Giant slalom in Hochfilzen, Tirol, Austira. I had 4days of solid, consistant training seeing more improvment in my skiing. The training slope was flat at the top, then a steep section with some nice rollers to finish, Photo left.

On Friday we travelled 4 hours for 2 Giant Slalom races in Turnau, Steiermark, Austria. I woke up on Saturday morning feeling great and ready to go, but we arrived at the race hill only to find out that they had cancelled the race due to overly warm, wet conditions. Even though they had worked through the night to try and get the slope ready there was no way we could race on it! Later that day they announced that Sundays race was also cancelled. So in the the end it was an 8 hour round trip for no racing, I was beyond frustrated, but thats the weather and Skiracing for you!

Tomorrow is back to training and this week I am hoping to race in a Giant Slalom here in Kirchberg and a Slalom race in Westerndorf which is only 20 minutes away, both races are Senior FIS on tricky slopes. Will keep you updated, cheers Ben.

The Weeks Training Upadate.

This week I trained 5 days of slalom on the Ganslern World Cup Slalom piste in Kitzbuhel. For the first 2 days I was a bit rusty, but after the 3rd day things really started to come together and I felt that I made a step forward with my slalom skiing this week.

The slope was tough and icey, but I had great sharp skis on my feet thanks to my trainer Wolfi, meaning I was able to grip well on the sheet ice. Left is a photo of me looking out of the start in training.

This Sunday I have a slalom race in Hochfugen, really looking forward to it after having a good weeks training. Will let you know how it goes! cheers Ben
