Training Update.

Training has been going really well, been up skiing on the Hintertux Glacier 4 times this week! 2 days GS gate training and 2 days GS free skiing. The conditions are like winter up there, Saturday and Sunday where 2 perfect days weather wise! There have been some world class skiers training here aswell Benni Raich of Austria and Maira Jose Rienda-Contreras of Spain have both been up on the Glacier over the past week. Here is a photo of me and Maria going down in the Gondola after training.

Really started to get exicted for winter now, especially after being able to train on some good snow lately and seeing a rough plan of my race calender for the season. Going to be pushing hard over the next two weeks with training, before going back to England for a couple of days to celebrate my brother Ryans birthday.

Will keep you posted, cheers Ben.

Tirol Cup Races And Minor Injury.

On Saturday the 23rd Jan I travelled to compete in 2 local Tirol Cup races in Reith, Austria. These races do not count towards FIS points, but are still of a very high standard. I did not finish in either race but it was a good experience against a quality field of racers. For the first time in 2 years I have picked up a minor knee injury and have had to return to the UK for treatment.

I flew back to the UK on the Tuesday the 26th Jan to see Paul Thawley and Doctor Mike Loosemore at Elite Physical Medicine. They had a good look at my knee, and said I have a small tear in the lining of one of my ligaments and some bone bruising under my knee cap. The outcome of this is I will now be off skis for a maximum of 3 weeks to give me time to recover. Big thanks to Paul and Mike at Elite for all there continued medical support. While I am back in the UK I will be focusing on my upper body strength and swimming for my cardio vascular fitness. I will keep you updated, cheers Ben.

Race Update, Garmisch Germany.

Traveled over to Germany Last Thursday for 2 Giant Slalom races in Garmisch. The first race on Friday went quite well, with a start number of 256, I managed to complete the first Run. I was in 114th place out of 290 racers. The second run was more about survival than anything. I just about made it off the steep section and tried to let it go on the flat, but lost the racing line. I finshed 115th overall with 200 points. After the second run I felt a slight pull in my left knee and decided to return back to Austria that night, not risking racing the next day.

I have had 2 days off so far and the knee is already starting to feel better. I am hoping to travel to France this Wednesday coming for 2 Giant slalom and 2 slalom races depending on my injury.

Also pleased to announce a new member to the team Mervyn Ramsay who will be my PR and head of sponsorship.

Will keep you updated, Cheers Ben
